Yes - It is the same in the NY area too. Three weeks ago I saw 1/4 of a high volume mall store in clearance with 70% off.

That is a large loss on initial retail value - suggesting the company is ina serious cash crunch (which we know they are).

Two weeks ago, we went to am outlet mall where 75% of the store was 60 to 80% off original price.

Look at Volcom's latest conf call transcript - they say their PSUN sales are down hard owing to (among other things) the PSUN outlets being so full of close-outs that Volcom cannot sell direct into the PSUN outlets anymore.

4Q will be a "kitchen sink" qtr for this new mgt team - throwing every loss they can into it (to absolve them in 2010).

At 7x the estimated CSFB and JPM 2010 EBITDA estimates - the stock is worth about $1

Sears could start mentioning their facebook page on their signage and in circulars and get a million followers in 30 days easy. Complete no-brainer. Plus given their franchise with Craftsman and maybe Lands End, they could start building demographically oriented sub-communities to increase their social media conversations with these buyers and likely accelerate sales. But, you know, that's only if they're interested in selling more stuff.
